Parsifal

Richard Wagner

For 20 years, by Richard Wagner's determination, Parsifal could only be performed on the stage for which the German composer conceived his opera, the mythical Bayreuth Festival. Wagner's final creation, premiered in 1882, would later gain planetary reach, spreading throughout the world the story of a heroic knight in search of the Holy Grail. Leading a cast of Wagnerian stars, conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Piotr Beczała, Elīna Garanča and Peter Mattei in this production by François Girard for the Metropolitan Opera.
