Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn
Coro e Orquestra Gulbenkian

Born into a family that greatly valued education, Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn were encouraged from an early age to develop their talents, studying music at home and reading together works by Goethe and Shakespeare. In no time, the two siblings proved to be true musical prodigies, both for their pianistic gifts and their compositional quality. In this programme conducted by Hannu Lintu, two major works by both composers are performed, inspired by religious motifs. Photography © DR
