Georg Büchner died at 23 years old, in 1837, and never finished Woyzeck, one of the plays that herald modern theatre. It is an unfinished and fragmentary text. For this reason, it is an open field for multiple possibilities. This is the auéééu version. A performance inspired by Büchner's celebrated character – victim and anti-hero, proletarian and madman, «poor devil» bearing the burden of a rapidly transforming world – and by the tableaux vivants from Sergei Parajanov's film, The Color of Pomegranates (1969).

In collaboration with filmmaker Manuela Viegas, sculptor Fernando Roussado, illustrator Filipe Andrade and lighting designer Daniel Worm d'Assumpção, auéééu create on stage «a scientific laboratory where humanoid machines obey an artificial order of intelligence that is not governed by ethical values». In a dystopian environment, these figures «operate exclusively in the name of progress».

«And behind all this what is there?», asks Woyzeck. Perhaps the answer lies in this play.
