Quarteto Diotima

Quarteto Diotima is one of the most acclaimed string quartets of today, owing its name both to the female character that Hölderlin created in the novel Hyperion and to a landmark piece that Luigi Nono composed for string quartet. Its reputation for excellence has been built through close collaboration with Pierre Boulez and Helmut Lachenmann, as well as through performances of works by Beethoven, Schubert, Ravel and Bartók. Diotima joins Gulbenkian for the Kurtág / Jolas Cycle, in a programme that brings together works by the two celebrated composers alongside pieces by Ravel and Bartók. Photograph © Michel Nguyen
