TICKET SALES OPENING – 2026_2027 SEASON

June 18-21: exclusively for CCB Card holders

From June 22 onwards: general public

The Maat Saxophone Quartet programme proposes a sonic journey around the music of revolution, crossing aesthetic and geographical boundaries to celebrate freedom, resistance and collective identity. Starting with Tributo a Carlos Paredes, a symbol of individual expression in times of oppression, the repertoire traverses landmark works such as Fernando Lopes-Graça's Canções Heróicas, adapted for saxophone quartet by Daniel Ferreira.

Beyond classics such as Grândola, Vila Morena or Acordai, it also includes Blackbird, associated with the civil rights struggle, in an arrangement specially conceived for the Maat Saxophone Quartet by composer Camiel Jansen, broadening the perspective to an international context of revolution. The programme culminates with Amor Gigante, by José Mário Branco, a work inspired by various string quartets, such as Maurice Ravel's, whose iconic fourth movement closes the programme.

More than a concert, this is a musical manifesto that seeks to interweave memory, art and freedom.

Guided visit by João Mateus at 15:30.
