Macbeth
Giuseppe Verdi

Few artistic marriages will have been as fruitful as the one that united Shakespeare's dramatic writing with Verdi's operatic writing. An admirable and ever-timely story of ascent, fall, betrayal, paranoia and obsession with power leads Macbeth to stop at nothing to fulfill the prophecy of his rise to the throne, later going mad from guilt and fear of suffering an identical blow. The Met Opera production is directed by Yannick Nézet-Séguin and features baritone Quinn Kelsey in the role of the Scottish king and soprano Lise Davidsen in the role of Lady Macbeth.
