From Gare do Oriente to Centro Cultural de Belém — Krump Session
Associação Cultural e Artística Via Urbana | Dougie Knight

Performance
Krump is a performative practice structured as a ritual of liberation, acceptance and resistance, where the body affirms itself as a space of expression and transformation. Originating from Black and Latino communities in Los Angeles in the late 1990s, krump emerged as a response to structural violence, gang conflicts and police repression, particularly in the territory of Compton. Rooted in a sociopolitical context marked by racism and economic inequality, this dance style asserts itself as a raw, intense and deeply expressive language. More than a dance, krump configures itself as a collective territory where energy, emotion and community intersect, summoning the audience to a visceral, participatory experience with a strong ritual dimension.
Fundação Centro Cultural de Belém reserves the right to proceed with the capture, storage and use of image, sound and voice records, for the purposes of dissemination and preservation of memory, both of its cultural and artistic activities and of its spaces.
