In 2015, a survey found that one third of Americans supported bombing Agrabah, the fictional city from Aladdin. Fifteen percent expressed uncertainty. A joke, yes, but also a sign of the times: the deliberate confusion between fiction and geopolitics. In what is his first exhibition in Portugal, Franco-Algerian artist Neïl Beloufa creates at MAC/CCB a journey in which the public interacts with objects and experiences chapters of a live computer game (a question mark, a scene from the film in Agrabah, an archive, a karaoke, a bedroom, military barracks, etc.). With each visitor interaction, their journey is recorded through sensor activation or algorithmic control, transforming them into an active agent of the fictional narrative.
