El Niño

The Grande Auditório once again hosts the Participatory Concerts, an occasion in which amateur choristers join the Coro and Orquestra Gulbenkian for the performance of a major work from the repertoire. This season's choice falls on the opera-oratorio El Niño, a creation by North American composer John Adams. The work recounts the story of the nativity of Jesus Christ, drawing from the biblical narrative described in the gospels, to which it adds other apocryphal texts and a collection of poems by a wide variety of Spanish and Latin American authors. The conducting will be led by maestraJoana Carneiro.
