With Wonder Women, L'Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar propose a celebration of the creative force, expressivity and artistic legacy of women throughout the centuries. At the centre of this programme are landmark works by 17th-century composers such as Barbara Strozzi, Francesca Caccini and Antonia Bembo. Long overshadowed by their male contemporaries, these creators played a fundamental role in establishing a singular musical language, marked by boldness, sensitivity and originality. The soloists Céline Scheen, Benedetta Mazzucato and Vincenzo Capezzuto interpret tragic and comic narratives populated by passionate heroines, mystical saints, enchanting figures and ordinary characters confronted with universal themes of love, destiny and devotion.
