Silent Night

Following the Metropolitan Opera New York's production of Kevin Puts's opera The Hours, an adaptation of Michael Cunningham's novel of the same name, the company returns to the American composer, this time with a production of his first opera, Silent Night, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 2012. The English newspaper The Guardian described Silent Night as "an overwhelming emotional experience," having been inspired by the true story of truces on the battlefield during Christmas 1914. Conducted by maestro Dalia Stasevska, it features Elza van den Heever, Ben Bliss and Rolando Villazón in the leading roles.
