Adapted from a play by Patrick Hamilton, itself inspired by a real case, Rope presents a sinister case of the perfect crime, where two men murder a person and then throw a party, inviting friends and family of the murdered man, while he remains hidden in a trunk, used as a buffet table. The management of the suspense Hitchcock is famous for is only matched by the management of time and space that the filmmaker constructs, resorting to a complex mise-en-scène game through long takes with depth of field.
