Café Curto 2026

Café Curto returns in 2026 to Café Concerto do Convento São Francisco with an expanded programme and a new growth phase, also marking the 10th anniversary of this cultural venue. With weekly sessions from January to June and from September to December, the cycle reinforces its position as a reference in promoting emerging music, introducing new curatorial axes, deepening partnerships and increasing the involvement of the local and national artistic community. Curated by Blue House, co-produced by Convento São Francisco and funded by the Câmara Municipal de Coimbra, the project consolidates a path started in a pandemic context that gave rise to sub-cycles such as Café Duplo, MIC – Música Independente de Coimbra and Café Longo. Among the main highlights for 2026 are the partnership with Festival Emergente, which will bring five dates dedicated to new talents selected through a national open call, and strengthened work with the EACMC Professional Jazz Course, through artist residencies with public presentations. MIC will also include an intensive mentoring programme, involving the city's training entities. Throughout the year, Café Curto articulates itself with other cultural events in Coimbra and presents over forty sessions, establishing itself as a space for meeting, experimentation and artistic dialogue in the city's cultural context. Programme 13.01 JOANA GUERRA + MIGUEL GOUVEIA Joana Guerra (Lisbon, 1983) is a cellist, composer and improviser, moving between experimental music, improvisation, noise, folk and jazz. With a career marked by interdisciplinary collaboration in contexts of music, dance, performance and theatre, she develops a singular sound universe, also expressed in her solo records, among which Chão Vermelho stands out, and in multiple collective projects of exploratory and improvised music. Miguel Gouveia, from Santo Tirso, with Douro roots, is an editor, translator, oral narrator
